04/01/2005 - Mrs Jackie
Willems, Environment Agency technical support
officer, has been awarded the MBE in the
New Years Honours List.
Jackie, who lives in West Bridgford, Nottingham,
has worked for the Environment Agency and
its predecessor bodies for 14 years. She
has 2 grown up children. The award cites
her services to the environment.
Over the past few years Jackie has proved
herself to be an excellent communicator,
working tirelessly to develop good working
relationships with the local community.
She has helped explain complex environmental
issues and provided re-assurance and information
to a wide range of people.
Not content with the major contribution
she has made in her primary work, Jackie
has been unstinting in her efforts to raise
funds for charitable causes, including BBC
Children in Need, the Red Nose Appeal, Leukaemia
and Childhood Cancer Research. Over the
past decade she has also raised thousands
of pounds for the Environment Agency’s official
charity, WaterAid.
Mark Sitton-Kent, the Environment Agency’s
Area Manager for Nottinghamshire, said:
"I am absolutely delighted that Jackie’s
enthusiasm and dedication to her work and
to the local community have been recognised
in this way. She is an example to us all
and I am very proud of her".
