Agency is issuing flood watches for the
Sussex coastline in advance of tomorrow’s
early morning high tide.
High tide at Shoreham, due at around 1.00
am12.40 am Friday 11 February 2005, is predicted
to reach 3.72 metres above Ordnance Datum.
The Environment Agency is not expecting
the situation to escalate but urges people
to be aware and prepared for flooding should
conditions worsen. High water levels could
lead to minor overtopping of flood defences
so anyone driving or out near the coastwater
should take extra care.
Flood defence staff in Sussex are preparing
for the tide levels now, making sure that
the coastal flood defences are in a good
condition. and will continue to monitor
the situation throughout the night.This
is the first of three high spring tides
over the next 36 hours and as a result further
Flood Watches may need to be issued tomorrow.
The Environment Agency will continue to
monitor the situation throughout the night
and over the coming days.

The Environment Agency is urging people
in at risk areas to remind themselves of
the Flood Warning codes.
