11/05/2005 - Six new members
have joined the Fisheries, Ecology and Recreation
Advisory Committee (FERAC) of Environment
Agency Wales.
FERAC is one of the Agency’s statutory committees
and it meets in public four times a year.
The Committee advises and guides the Agency
on its fisheries, conservation, recreation
and navigation work.
Philipe Morgan will represent conservation
and recreation interests. He is Company Director
of Sustainable Forest Management in West Wales.
Dr Brian Hodgson, nominated by North Western
and North Wales Sea Fisheries Committee, has
been appointed as Sea Fisheries Committee
member.
The following have all been appointed as
Fisheries members:
John Roe from Denbighshire is appointed as
Coarse Fisheries member. He currently chairs
the Dee Fisheries Association and is also
a member of Dee and Clwyd Local Fisheries
Group.
Peredur Eklund is appointed as a Game Fisheries
member. He is Secretary of Aberystwyth Angling
Club and a member of the Welsh Salmon and
Sea Trout Association
Donald Patterson is appointed as Game Fisheries
member. He is a founder member of Curiad Caron,
a community development and tourism initiative.
He currently chairs the Tregaron Angling Association.
Tony Davies from Pembrokeshire, appointed
as Game Fisheries member, manages a company
called River to River which provides trout,
salmon and sea trout fishing for both local
and visiting anglers.
Dr Helen Phillips, Director Environment Agency
Wales and FERAC Chairman Pat O’Reilly welcomed
the new appointments and thanked outgoing
members for their past services.
Chris Charters has also been appointed as
a full member with responsibility for navigation
interests. He is a member of the Wye Navigation
Advisory and has been closely involved with
the outdoor pursuits industry as a manager
and consultant for many years.
Three other members were re-appointed. They
are: Fred Slater (Academic/ Professional),
Tony Rees (Fisheries) and Bob Phillips (Conservation/
Recreation).
