- London, UK – British celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson
has launched a new range of environmentally-friendly cleaning
products, derived from natural plant extracts. The
Clean and Green range of biodegradable products had to
pass stringent eco-criteria set by WWF that seeks to identify
items that have minimal impacts on the environment. The
natural ingredients in the household products were also
produced using sustainable agricultural practices.
"The safety of our environment
is of paramount importance to me, particularly concerning
is the millions of litres of chemicals and toxins discharged
into the ecosystem every year," said Thompson.
"The Clean and Green range of
products are derived from natural plant extracts using
sustainable environmental practices and are readily biodegradable
so they will not leave any harmful persistent residue
in the environment."
“Thousands of chemicals are manufactured,
used and released into the environment everyday – many
are used in the products we use in our homes on a daily
basis," added Elizabeth Salter Green, Head of WWF-UK's
toxics programme.
"That is why WWF is campaigning
for legislation that will properly regulate chemicals,
including those found in everyday products, and where
appropriate, phase out those that are hazardous in favour
of safer alternatives. We’re very pleased that high profile
figures like Antony Worral Thompson are championing environmentally
products like the Clean and Green range.”
The range comprises of seven items
including an anti-bacterial all purpose cleaner, kitchen
degreaser, stain remover, odour neutraliser & air
freshener, anti-bacterial handwash and an anti-bacterial
washing liquid.
The complete range will be available
starting December from WWF’s online shop. |
