07/02/2006 - The Environment
Agency is looking for two new members to
join its Regional Environment Protection
Advisory Committee. Ideally, candidates
should have an expertise in waste. The committee
is made up of representatives from local
authorities, environmental specialists and
organisations regulated by the Environment
Agency. It advises on Environment Protection
including performance, policy implementation
and priorities and also represents a wide
range of interests affected by the work
of the Agency.
Meeting four times a year, the Regional
Environment Protection Advisory Committee
aims to reflect the diversity of the region
it serves. Committee members are not paid,
but are reimbursed for travelling expenses
and in appropriate cases are entitled to
financial loss allowance. They can serve
for up to three years. Meetings are usually
held in Exeter during office hours.
The Agency invites nominations from organisations
and applications from individuals. Candidates
should live in the Environment Agency’s
South West region, which covers Cornwall,
Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, South
Gloucestershire and most of Wiltshire.
‘The REPAC committee provides an invaluable
opportunity to play a part in shaping the
work we do,’ said Richard Cresswell, regional
Director of the Environment Agency.
‘We need committed members who can advise
on our work and help design our policies
to make sure everybody in our society plays
their part in looking after our environment.’
Applications should be made by February
20, 2006 to Sarah Harding, Corporate Affairs,
Environment Agency, Manley House, Kestrel
Way, Exeter EX2 7LQ. Telephone 01392 442185.
Interviews will take place on March 2 and
3, 2006.
