5 April 2006 - Two new paint
products on the market not only look great on
the wall, but will also contribute to a better
environment.
Dulux Australia’s EnvirO2™and Aquanamel® products
have been certified as 100 per cent greenhouse
neutral by the Australian Government.
Minister for the Environment and Heritage, Senator
Ian Campbell today congratulated Dulux Australia
for being the first Australian paint company to
gain Greenhouse Friendly™ certification for its
two new products.
Greenhouse Friendly™ is an initiative of the Australian
Government offered through the Australian Greenhouse
Office. It is a fresh approach to doing business
that helps organisations show their commitment
to the environment as well as improving their
bottom line.
“Dulux Australia went through a rigorous process
to obtain Australian Government certification
that the greenhouse emissions associated with
the production process, use and disposal of the
nominated paints is 100 per cent offset with Greenhouse
Friendly™ approved abatement projects,” Senator
Campbell said.
“It is inspiring to see a well known company such
as Dulux producing paints that not only make our
homes, work areas and community spaces look great,
but also contribute positively to our environment.
“Dulux Aquanamel®, a water-based interior
or exterior enamel, and EnvirO2, a new generation
premium interior paint that is low in volatile
organic compounds, are the first two non-energy
products that have been certified as Greenhouse
Friendly™.
“Obtaining Greenhouse Friendly™ certification
is a positive change for any business looking
to focus on corporate sustainability issues. By
purchasing Greenhouse Friendly™ certified products
consumers can be confident that the use of the
products is not adding to Australia’s greenhouse
gas emissions.
“So far more than 1.7 million tonnes of greenhouse
gas emissions have been offset under this initiative.
Greenhouse Friendly™ is a great initiative that
encourages businesses to focus on environmental
management, while also creating opportunities
to make their products stand out from the crowd.”
