- The Environment Agency is reminding local businesses
who plan to enter for this year’s Gloucestershire
Environmental Business Award that their entries
need to be in by 31 July 2006.
This prestigious award will
be presented to the winner at the awards dinner
in October, in the presence of many of the region's
leading industrialists, business people and the
media.
For the second year running,
we are sponsoring the Environmental Business Award,
which is given to the company that has shown outstanding
concern for the environment and which has taken
steps to introduce improvements which protect
and enhance the quality of life.
Improvements could cover action
to reduce emissions, waste or noise, to improve
raw material use or transport efficiency, to clean
up land or reduce the impact of the business activities
on neighbours.
The project or initiative must
have been completed or reached a meaningful stage
within the last twelve months.
Lower Severn Area Manager, Malcolm
Lythgo, said: "We know that Gloucestershire
businesses are doing some really good work to
reduce their impact on the environment and we
would like to see their efforts recognised.
"By entering for this award,
businesses with sound and successful environmental
practices can encourage others to follow their
example. By working together in this way, we will
all help to make Gloucestershire a better place."
