26-Jul-2006
- On Thursday 27 July, Environment Agency Wales
and Denbighshire County Council officers will
be at Roger W Jones builder’s merchants in Rhyl
from 7.30am to 1.00pm giving advice to small business
on what they can legally do with their waste –
and giving away free bacon butties too.
If you have any questions or
queries on duty of care, waste disposal, registered
waste carrier requirements and details of sites
that can be used for legitimate disposal then
come and have a chat over breakfast.
We will have free leaflets with
all kinds of information on what you need to be
doing with your waste.
This is all part of our work
across Wales to tackle flytipping and to help
small businesses to operate legally when it comes
to their waste. At the moment, we are running
projects such as Environmental Crimewatch and
Pride in Our Communities, which aim to focus peoples’
attention on the problem of disposing of their
waste legally.
It is better for your business
to dispose of waste legally rather than face the
prospect of enforcement action or fines if you
choose to operate outside of the law.
We are also working with members
of the public and householders to advise them
to make sure they dispose of their waste correctly.
Lyndsey Meek, project manager
for Environment Agency Wales said:
"The advice and the
bacon butties are free…so come down to Roger W
Jones Thursday morning, 27 July. Denbighshire
County Council and ourselves will be able to provide
you with information and leaflets on many aspects
of dealing with waste and advise you how to become
a registered waste carrier if you carry waste.
We appreciate that the waste laws can be complicated
so come down on the day and we aim to make it
clearer for you. Finally, we want to help you
help the environment."
