Indeg
Jones - 5-Sep-2006 - Environment Agency Wales
supported this year’s Mardi Gras in Cardiff by
encouraging better care for the environment. It
asked people to recycle their glass bottles at
the recycling bins provided and help make Wales
a better place.
The Agency is not only committed
to making sure the environment is diverse, but
also to having as varied a workforce as possible.
It wants to put the diversity into BIO-diversity.
Cardiff Mardi Gras is a very
timely event for the Agency, as it launches its
own celebrations for Diversity Week. Via its equal
opportunities policy it looks to attract as diverse
a workforce as possible, be it ethnicity, disability
or sexuality, we firmly believe that diversity
means strength.
David Aberdeen, Human Resources
manager for Wales, said:
"We believe that attracting
different people from diverse backgrounds is vital
in maintaining a strong workforce. Different people
bring different qualities, and through our Diversity
Week and by supporting events such as the Cardiff
Mardi Gras, we hope to get more people interested
in the Agency and our work.
"And of course, by encouraging
the use of the recycling bins provided we want
to remind everybody of the importance of getting
rid of their rubbish in a responsible way. Landfilling
waste is unsustainable and every effort must be
made to cut our dependency on it.
"We look forward to this
event and creating a better Wales for everybody."
